Side Post - Blogging from North Luzon
I have not updated this blog for a few days now - I flew to Laoag last Saturday to check on my team who were deployed all over North Luzon to complete a systems implementation project for a multinational client based in Manila. Laoag - a city up in Northern Luzon, Philippines, is about 45 minutes plane ride from Manila, or approximately 10 to 12 hours travel by bus.
My team (by two’s, spread in 5 locations all over North Luzon) just completed the roll-out of the new Sales and Distribution system on the first batch of sites in North Luzon - covering sites in San Fernando in La Union; Candon, Cabugao, Vigan and Laoag in Ilocos Province. The second batch of sites commenced today - Urdaneta and Dagupan in Pangasinan; Solano, Santiago and Tuguegarao in Central Valley area. Hopefully, we should be able to complete this nationwide roll-out of the new System by first week of March - after more than a year of roll-out/implementation all over the Philippines. We have already completed the roll-out in Central Luzon, all the way to Manila, to Southern Tagalog and Bicol region; Leyte, Ilo-ilo, Cebu and Bacolod in Visayas; all the way to Cagayan de Oro, Davao and Zamboanga in Mindanao.
There were a total of almost 70 locations where the group implemented the system - which covers from Sales Route Management, to Order Booking, Processing, Dispatching, Invoicing, Finance Accounting and Accounts Receivable.

Sphere: Related ContentStop svchost.exe from slowing down your PC
Did you hear your CPU fan squealing and your computer suddenly becomes so sluggish? Perhaps some malware or spyware is running - but if you have a good firewall and still experiencing this, probably it’s your Windows that’s trying to kill your Windows system after all.
I stumbled upon this very informative piece of tips from the editors at Download.com. At times when you need to do something and your Windows system started to behave ‘normally’ - meaning, something’s weird is going on - check your Task Manager ( I usually just use the ALT+ CTL + DEL combo) and check which processes is killing your CPU. Assuming you got a clean system - no spyware/malware are running, check out svchost.exe and probably you will see several of these processes running at the same time.

Sphere: Related ContentHow does Google determine a site’s Page Rank?
While a handful are saying they don’t need it, most are really working to get a higher Google Page Rank. Why is it important? Honestly, I only knew about this thing only last month - haha, very surprising for a guy who does Oracle projects for a long time. I didn’t cared about page ranking before. But when I had my first blog last November, it was only then that I began to understand how important a page rank is.
If I have to earn money from my site, then I need to have a decent page rank. There is always this general perception that a site is good if it has a high page rank - though there are exceptions. I learned that Google determines your page rank by looking at the ‘votes’ for your site. This ‘votes’ are actually links from other sites to your site. And the higher the PR of a site linking to you, the higher your valuation would be. Thus, if I got a link from Boingboing or even Google, it will have great impact on the value of my site.
Google also looks at the quality of these sites linked to you. It is notably vicious against illegal and porn sites - thus it is wise to avoid being linked on these sites. Consequently, being linked by a PR4 site where my blog is one of its 10 blogroll is much better than being linked by a PR8 site but with thousands of other site links on it. Which is why I appreciate it very much if I got a link from a site even without a page rank - as long as it has some nice decent contents and not spam. Why? I will tell at the last part of this post.

Sphere: Related ContentIntroducing the Entrecard Blogs Directory
For a long time, I always wanted to have my own site directory. Then I thought probably coming up with a site directory for all blogs would be cool, however, there are already a lot of blogs directory out there.
I rather worked on a blog directory for blogs with the entrecard widgets. Don’t know if this is useful - but what the heck. After tinkering some PHP and HTML codes which I have zero knowledge, I finally have my site directory that I call the Entrecard Blogs Directory.
The objective is simple - list all blogs with the entrecard widgets and probably speed up my daily entrecard dropping. The site directory is also very simple, and easy to use. If you guys (and gals) want to have your Blog listed, feel free to add it up at Entrecard Blogs Directory. If you want to suggest a category, please leave a comment with your suggested Category.
By the way, I used the entrecard name and widget logo (but put a disclaimer on the site that it’s not affiliated with Entrecard.com and that the Entrecard logo and name is owned by Entrecard). If in anyway I have violated something, please feel free to inform me so I can make a quick corrective action.
On the side: Pepsi or Coke? Choco or Vanilla? Briefs or boxers? Take the survey and find out.
