Just like in any kind of employment, the salary should, ideally, compensate for the work load. Roles with more responsibilities and more decision-making that affect lives of millions and even generations to come sound like the toughest job.

But the more troubling issue apparent in these posts is the fact that millions of pesos are spent just to get that Seat. People rationally invest because they think the pay off is higher. In other words, those who run for office and invest a lot of money do not really want to serve but to be served. There is yet to be one in office that have a selfless interest.

Corruption is obvious here whether we can substantiate it or not. Because if there is no corruption, our land that can be considered as one of the most beautiful, naturally rich, wealth bounty and intelligent people-endowed, should be the place every Filipino would Prefer to live in. But it is not.

But the saddest part is, those who know that this is not a poor, hopeless country as we are misled to believe and can do something to effect change if united can only post comments for now...

dude! They look even better as time goes by! they corrupt more and more money! Yes, you are right regarding emotional and psychological stress because they worry too much how they can find a way to steal money from the people and how they can take advantage of the so called "POWER" they have.

Regarding 24/7 job?? I don't think sleeping is a job.

Haha! I don't think so! Let's just put it this way, since, all the politicians are corrupt! let's not pay them a single penny because they corrupt millions and millions of pesos anways. Whatever the salary they're getting it's just a front even though it's so obvious that their salary is just nothing. They make more money through corruption. Whether they deny it or not, I know for a fact that everybody knows where their money are coming from! CORRUPTION!

Let's stop this game! Somehow, it's the peoples fault too. DO NOT elect somebody just because they are famous! Be knowlegable and elect the right president if there's one! I DON'T THINK SO>

Given the amount of emotional and psychological stress that goes along with the job, I think that an increase is most definitely warranted. The job is a 24-7 no time off job. Even when they go on what is termed a "vacation," they are still on duty. Look at the past presidents and see what they looked like going into the office versus what they look like when their term is finished and its appearent how much of a toll the job takes...

I clicked yes BUT a current president must only increase the salary of succeeding presidents (or his/her next term). I think there's a policy about that somewhere and for good reason. Imagine our leaders (president, senators, and congresspersons) having the power to increase their OWN salaries.

We can't compare our president's salary with that of the United States'. Salaries should be based on the economy. America has the biggest economy in the world so they can afford to pay their president that much.

So any president of our beloved Philippines should first work to get the economy up and running in his/her first term and then ask for a raise for the second term.

<abbr><em>Bong (JB)s last blog post..<a href="http://www.reapmoneyonline.com/09/inspiring-sunday-reputation-by-warren-buffet/" rel="nofollow">Inspiring Sunday: Reputation by Warren Buffet.</a></em></abbr>
