Dear readers (apparently I have some readers after all - LOL), allow me to do another political rambling. Bloggista has been so busy lately with some projects and business dealings the only time I get to have some break is watching the late evening news on local TV - and mostly are all about the latest Senate investigation on the “Russian Generals.”

And once again, our House of “Investigative” Senators (probably they have forgotten they’re a Senate of Laws and not of Investigations left and right but no results), are investigating all of the “Russian” Generals for the alleged graft and misuse of public funds in excessive and extravagant travels and contingency funds.

While I see no wrong in investigating how every Filipino citizen’s penny are spent by our Government Officials, there must be fairness when scrutinizing public funds spending.

Alright, there is no problem with the Senate investigating why the “Russian” Generals, who attended an event in Russia, brought 7 or 8 million pesos, and how much they spent for the trip which should have been attended by just 2 delegates only. Even before the Generals came back, they were already presumed guilty by most Senators, Congressmen, and even by our militant brothers.

We all love watching those modern gladiators throwing a kick to the face, or delivering a “stoner” finisher to their opponents. People wail at the sight of that big giant scary-looking man from the grave giving the dreaded “tombstone” to a helpless victim whose muscle-chiseled body is being thrown like a wasp on the floor.

Who can forget the famous rivalry of Bret “the Hitman” Hart versus Shawn “The Heartbreak Kid” Michaels and Triple H, or the animosity between “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and The Rock. After all, this was entertainment wrestling, despite of its drama and scripted fights, people love it. Everywhere entertainment wrestling goes, men, women and children always fill the whole fight arena.

Are we seeing a brand new sports entertainment with the upcoming fight between Manny “the Pacman” Pacquiao against Oscar ‘the Pretty Boy” De La Hoya? Several people, including yours truly doubt a great boxing fight will gonna happen on December 5, 2008 in Las Vegas, USA. With the money at stake, talking about millions of dollars, plus shares in pay-per-view and other exclusive fight broadcast rights and private sponsorships - the money each fighter will get is a lot!

No, I didn’t take them home for some slumber party. I mean I gained lots of friends that night. And I met the Queen!

I went alone to the DigitalFilipino Club sponsored event for e-Commerce industry players and bloggers last Saturday night, 25th of October at the PIRC Forum Hall inside Casino Filipino in Paranaque - just fronting the NAIA airport. Since I forgot where the venue was, I parked my car right in front of Duty Free Philippines and browsed through my blog using my phone to check on the post I made about the event.

After about 15 minutes of connecting and browsing, I finally got the address and the exact place (hell yeah, I was in a 3G area but the Globe internet connection was as usual - very bad). I didn’t realized I was parked right beside the gates of PAGCOR. LOL.

After some security checks, I finally got into the Forum Hall around 6:30pm. Everyone’s a stranger except for Fitz whom I met the last time at the Influential Bloggers Awards Night. There were a few familiar faces but could not remember their names. After all, that was the second time I attended such blogging events.

Taking The Business Challenge

Three months ago I ventured into something that I considered the biggest challenge yet of my life and career - quitting freelance Business Consulting and start my own IT/Business Consulting company. Together with a very supportive and great business partner - I took the challenge that I know will greatly change everything: income, time for blogging and gimmicks, and a radical change to lifestyle.

It wasn’t an easy decision - plus the market is very competitive, the economy is not doing well, it is already start of the calendar year’s third quarter - where most companies are either done with their projects or are out of budgets for new projects. There seemed to be lots of challenges ahead and I was overwhelmed at the thought - what if I fail?

Fear of “failure” is probably one of the top reasons why many people opt not to venture into business, but rather play safe. After all, who doesn’t want to have a steady, fixed income anyway? With this, you can plan well your spendings, and put some money aside for future expenditures and keep some amount for savings.
