Job Application Tips: Avoid Cutie Email Address

You’re might be the cutest girl in town, but using your “cutie” email address in your Resume and Job Application form might be a potential turn-off by many Job Hunters. It is alright if you are using “prettylicious@youremail.com” in your Facebook or mySpace profile, but never in your resume.
You have crafted the best resume ever - with all the right fonts and margin and an impressive work experience, but your email address reads “street_hunk125@yohoo.com”, it could be a potential disaster. Although there is no “written rule” about proper email addresses in resume’s/CV’s, but common sense tell it is always safe and more professional to use a professional sounding email address, perhaps using your name is always the best.
But for common names, you might really have a hard time getting the right email address. If your name is John Doe, for example, chances are, somebody already got that email name in the popular free online email service providers like Yahoo, Google and Hotmail. So it might be alright to use johndoe78@yahoo.com but avoid using johndoe69@hotmail.com.
I have talked to several notable Recruiters and Headhunters and they all prefer that email addresses in Resume’s/CV’s and job applications should be at least something that aren’t vulgar, or narcissistic or “cutie”.
So the next time you send that resume, be sure your email name isn’t “cooldude”, “well_hung”, “dominator”, “sweet_16″, “honeypie42″, “emo_19sweet”, “narutokid21″, “fire-eater82″… - you know what I mean.
Nice reminders, my friend. As for me, I have a separate email ad for business transactions, job application and some personal stuff and I am using my real name there.
I worked for 10 different local companies, and around 3 of them I applied through email.
But if you don’t mind. I have a sincere question.
“use johndoe78@yahoo.com but avoid using johndoe69@hotmail.com”
Is it because of the hotmail, or the 69?

i’ve seen cutie email ads in the application forms i received and scanned. i even asked one interviewee about it. her email ad has this “pretty” word in it. in fairness, she’s pretty naman. haha.

Heheh. I don’t really think it would matter if one is using those kinds of email addresses as long as one has an exemplary track record and a well written resume.
This reminds me of the move Legally Blond. Heheh.

I guess I have to ditch out the “prettilicious” name that I have been carrying over 10 years - where I ended up getting the job over a huge number of applicants anyway.
The email addy issue is minor (to me), but if you have an impressive resume then this small professional tweak is a helpful one.

yah this is so true, I am currently training for a head hunting firm and I still catch a lot of people making this simple mistake like emails for sexyB@#$h22@Yahoo.com something
I mean if you want to be seen as a professional it is necessary to definitely start with what you put on your resume 
and then these people wonder why they dont get entertained or get a call hehehe

sigh my comment got eaten up by the black hole of webspace hehehe. Anyways, being a trainer for one of the head hunting firms here in the country I still get to see my fair share of emails like sexyBi#@!22@yahoo.com and then they wonder why they dont get a call back. I mean people have to start realizing that in if you put something like that on your resume there really isnt any need for a character reference now is there.

Yep. I agree. An applicant should ensure that his email address sounds professional and reflects his full name so that his credibility could not be undermined.
But anyway that is just the tip of the iceberg. One should do well during his exam(s) and interview(s).
