And the New President of the United States: Obama or McCain
On Tuesday, November 4, 2008 (Wednesday in Manila), Americans will hold its 56th quadrennial United States Presidential Election. So in a few days, the world will see a new U.S. President – more likely to be Barack Hussein Obama rather than John Sidney McCain?
Many people, especially those not from the United States predicted Obama to be the next U.S. President. They maybe right, as the latest polls conducted by AP-Yahoo! still put Obama on top of the contention 51 to 43. So while Arnold Schwarzenegger saw the need for Democrat Barack Obama to beef up his “skinny” legs and pump up some muscles by joining his regular muscle and body building programs, he might as well advise Republican McCain to beef up his campaign and win in bigger States.
Still, Republicans are hopeful and predict that McCain still got a great fight ahead. Recently, a poll in Alabama (with 9 electoral votes) showed McCain is leading at 52%, while Obama got 25% with the undecided at 23%. Also, based on the recent poll study of AP-Yahoo!, one in seven voters, 14 percent of the total — said they were undecided or might yet change their minds.
In the Philippines, several people believed that if Obama wins, it might have a big effect on the BPO and Call Center services as its more likely that Obama may implement a policy to give back to the Americans their jobs. They also believed that if Obama will be the next U.S. President, US presence in the country will increase as unlike the incumbent US President Bush who have tapered off a bit their presence in recent years, the Democrats may want to maximize their investments and interests in the region.
So its going to be an exciting week ahead, historic in magnitude. If you’re to vote for the next U.S. President, who is your choice? Participate in the poll below and let’s have our own little statistics.
Happy Halloween!

If I am an American, I will vote for this guy as I can see a JFK-like leadership in him. The man has idealistic mind that could give a good boost to the American economy.
But to tell you honestly, as a Filipino, Obama’s plan to stop the growth of outsourcing here in the Philippines somewhat outrage me because I belong to that sector. Anyway, let’s just wait and see…

Yeah, a lot of people compares Obama with JFK. hopefully if Obama wins – we won’t see any JFK incident, God forbids. Sounds scary but with the latest news we see (if they’re true), Obama should be very careful.

I agree B. Let’s just cross our fingers that history won’t repeat itself.

I must admit, I have been late in reading US election related posts and I did not get to understand fully each candidate’s platform. However, I find it amusing that the Americans are not far similar on how we Filipinos treat candidates. In fact, I find them even worst.
Anyway, I think Obama will win because people loves to test unique candidates. Have you noticed the way Filipinos voted for FPJ and ERAP? Besides, I think McCain is too old to be a president. I also heard he does not know how to use a PC, not sure though.
However, I think Sarah Palin made it big during the campaign and this is a big help for her, although most issue were negative.
In the end, I still hope the future President and Vice President can do something about the economy. Terrorism? I think this is just a matter of respect to others – Muslims and non-Muslims.
Thanks!

I think I lost my comment, so here it is again.
I must admit, I am a bit late about this upcoming US Election. I did not even understood clearly each of their platform. But I noticed that Americans are not far similar from us (Filipinos) on the way they treat candidates, I even think they are worst. Look at Sarah Palin.
Anyway, I think Obama will win because he is a unique candidate. For McCain, I think he’s old to be a President. I even heard he does not know how to use a PC, but not sure though.
But just the same, I just hope the next government will put focus more on the economy especially for the children.
Thanks!

I agree with a previous comment–of the two candidates, Obama is more likely to interfere with outsourcing to the Philippines. I don’t want to see that happen–I’ve seen many of my friends make a good living in the call center industry.

I guess what makes it even more creepier is the fact that Mr Nostradamus had in more ways than one mentioned of a black leader rising to power in one of his quatrains but how he depicted events after is something am hoping he is wrong about
oh well makes me glad am now Filipino hehehe
but i still have yet to vote for our own presidential elections
