Brace for Another Google Page Rank Update

googleprimage 250x250 Brace for Another Google Page Rank UpdateAnother Google Page Rank Update in December? Most probably. Sometime in April of this year, they call it Operation Dewey. So are we expecting another Operation Dewey in the next few days?

The last time Google made a Page Rank Update was in September – and following the pattern, Google implements its Page Rank algorithm every 3 months. For some a Google Page Rank isn’t that important. But noticeably quite a number is looking forward to a higher Page Rank, including yours truly.

So we all still have a few days left to at least improve our chances to gain a favorable Google Page Rank – that is, if you are after a higher Google Page Rank.

How to Avoid being Penalized by the Almighty Google? Here are some “Simple Guidelines” to follow and “hopefully” earn a Google reward for being obedient.

Note: These are words from a newbie blogger, not from an SEO and Google expert, so take caution! LOL. And please do share some tips:

  1. If you can, avoid doing paid posts, especially those with “do follow” links.
  2. If you have made some paid posts before, check if you can already remove the “do follow” tags on those links. Usually most pay per post programs allow removal of those “do follow” tags 3 months after you posted them.
  3. Get quality backlinks from fellow bloggers – but avoid backlinks from sites where Google is allergic – like porn sites, spam and splog sites, and even gambling sites.
  4. As much as possible, avoid reciprocal linking, at least for the next 2 weeks or until Google implemented the page rank updates. Best not to do it.
  5. For those gifted with the art of writing great contents – now is the time to write even better contents. Consider submitting these articles on sites that accept posting of articles. Do some “bum” marketing by taking advantage of your writing prowess, and expect a few more quality backlinks.
  6. Also try to increase your internal page values – by linking your previous articles with your most recent one with the relevant keywords. It will help making sure your internal pages and articles get a “score” from Google.

That’s it! Just have fun, try to listen to some nice cool music while removing those unwanted links from those paid posts. :-) Peace.

  1. No follow tags on your theme template could also help especially when a blogger is doing a paid post. Better if you ask a blogger with a higher PR to exchange links, but would be best if your blogs are on the same niche.

I know some bloggers who have higher PR and yet doing a paid post. In my case, i don’t think much of my PR as long as i serve well my readers with good post and earn at the same time.

Nice post brother!

Right bro, and honestly those paid opps are really hard to resist. hehe. But I have decided long ago to build a good google reputation on this blog so as much as possible, paid posts and links are avoided. But occassional product reviews/private advertising I guess is alright.

  2. I’m looking forward to seeing the Pagerank update. I’ve been busy promoting my blogs over the last couple of months and they’re all currently showing as unranked.

Good luck to everyone else too :-)

    SELaplana Replies:

anyway it’s true that PR is not really important as long as the blog earn lots of money from its adverts. What made worry actually is my adverts coming from TLA because they’re PR sensitive. I was earning almost $400/month from the TLA when the blog is still PR4, but when the PR was changed to 2, lots of advertisers stopped purchasing TLA from my blog.

So, now I will find another making money scheme na pweding pagkakakitaan as additional income.

  6. I’m not really concern about PR anymore. At least for now.

I’m more into the my theme and the way my blog looks for now but I will consider adding nofollow tags on old sponsored posts.

hehehe wahhh that sums it up the most – we all have to be careful sometimes with how we handle our links and link out and what we write about in the blogging community. Page ranks in general is what brings in the real traffic not to mention the money. Getting on the good side of Google is a love/hate relationship for everyone in the virtual highway. Right now am fighting to get my other site Marketing 411 to be recognized by Google by applying what I have learned in the past couple of months with Empty Streets. Wishing everyone good luck and crossing fingers. :)

Actually, it’s so easy to get a PR3. this blog was given PR3 in less than 3 months. Since you started your blog a month ago, you might be a candidate for a PR3.

But getting it ranked higher than PR3 is where the real work begins. I’m stuck at PR3, although its expected as I am not actively getting backlinks from other sites.

I got PR4 on my very first blog by accident. It was a wordpress blog. Probably had to do with those several splogs (i think, they copied a part of my content then linked to me) that linked to me.

I did not realize that PR4 is difficult to reach.

Now I really pray that I get PR raise on my blogs.. especially “the lady programmer” where I had those paid links “nofollowed”.

It has been a year for me too, and currently am at pagerank 2 and that took a while to get there. Others have jumped so far as three on their first evaluation. All It takes i guess is to be more aware of the rules of Pageranking especially since the penalties will end up bringing anyone down to a zero. :)

One thing is definitely for sure – if you worry about your PR too much you might loose track of what your site would be all about and quality could be affected. We can’t control the people that link to us but what we can control are the links we make to other blogs that too has it’s weight in the PR Ranking. Worrying too much also is in a way a waste of time. Work on Marketing your sites and eventually things will fall into place :) It is because of working to market the sites that one gets to meet others such as all of you guys and that is worth much more than a PR Rank :) heheeh

  13. I had the same thoughts before about reducing PR if I make paid posts. But when I asked experienced webmasters on top forums, I can still avoid to reduce it if I link to a high PR blog. And this is what happened to my blogspot blogs – both of them remained PR3. But I am not making paid posts for my main blog and I am not planning to make one.

But come to think of it, what’s really PR for? For me, it’s just a status symbol that may attract more advertisers. I am not sure if everybody knows this, but having a high PR does not mean direct traffic or a bigger chance of SERP. PR and SERP are two independent things.

The latter is better as it can be directly converted to money.

By the way, my main blog is PR3 for 2 months now and it is only 4 months old. But it happened without my intention. I don’t even know to how to check if a blog or forum is a do-follow or not. I am not even accepting exchange links, nor even submitting to blog directories.

I just focus on increasing my network, leaving quality comments, and producing quality content to the best I can.

    Just my thoughts though.
