To Each His Own
You can count on me,
If your advocacy is to fight corruption in government,
Or fight for equality and justice of the oppressed;
Or inform people of issues that affect them,
Or promote freedom of speech and expression in the streets, in media and in blogosphere.
But never,
When you impose your own rules and standards to others;
When you think blogging is only for the gifted.
Where you draw a line between the supposed “real writers” and “wannabees”;
When you discriminate bloggers who earn from their blogs.
When you call them names, when you curse them,
When you wish they’ll rot in hell for selling their souls,
When you think you and your kind are superior,
And imply your authority by calling them to rally behind you,
Policing the ranks against those not in your league.
There’s already too much hypocrisy and self-righteousness in our society, let’s leave the Blogosphere as the only place to have true independence, where anyone can freely thrive whether he can write and use the English language well just like you or not, whether he is sponsored by some companies or politicos or is simply monetizing with Adsense, sponsored post and product reviews.
Whether he drives traffic using SEO, whether his posts are all crap to your tastes, as long as he doesn’t hurt or scammed anyone, let him be. What’s wrong with it anyway?
To each his own.

This is correct! I agree with this.
Sometimes, we should not mind other people’s business.
“To Each His Own” ika nga… hehe…

Hahaha! I quoted him just to share to you and your readers. He said:
“Those who self-promote themselves obviously lack intelligence and self-confidence.“
I didn’t have to go far to find an example:
“Right now, this site is also making its rounds in coffee shops, OFW centers and of course, in that dark room called Kalayaan Hall. Thus, New Philippine Revolution was born. NPR was my Sierra Madre, my Olympus, the apex of things I consider very important–the formation of the Filipino Nation. “
That’s what he wrote about his blog on the very same entry he posted. I was like – “Did he just said that?!” Wow! Can u imagine?!
Oh, here’s the fun part: My contact in Malacanang told me that they don’t even know who Pat Mangubat is nor do they talk about his blog. Obviously, they know who Reyna Elena is and about my blog. Ouch!
HAHAHA!

LOL. First, I disagree what he said that those who self-promote themselves obviously lack intelligence and self-confidence. When you are sure in what you do, and you want the world to know what you’re capable of, it’s confidence and obviously, you have measured your intelligence.
I guess this is one thing we Filipinos should learn from the other culture – be confident. At times too much humility means two things – either you don’t know anything, or you are actually trying to portray yourself as a humble person to others.
But it’s different when one is boasting of themselves. It alright to say you know, but praising yourself because you know something, is boasting. You’re right Kamahalan, the second statement cannot be reconciled with his first statement…
“Let men not be judged by their works, lest they’ll be boastful.”

Pat Mangubat, though I hate to say this, is in essence and in truth a delusional blogger.
If I were him, I would start by cleaning my backyard first before preaching to others such blasphemous claim of blog sanctity.
The more people use blogs, the more crackpots surfaces in our midsts.

It’s just unfortunate that people like him who profess to have the highest ideals and dreams to change a nation and cry of change and equality are the very same people we all want to get rid of – boastful, self righteous and filled with so much hatred, or is it envy…

But you might want to take note of this blue when you start writing our Social Climbing Dogma Series hahaha!
He invoked a number of bloggers, poetically, singing praises and joy to the world before he delivered his “i am an ethical blogger” but there is a blogger who sold his soul but i won’t name him. Now, was it ethical to accuse a person, thro in a pit to the bulls without giving the guy a chance to explain himself? Was it good conduct? No. Therefore, un-ethical.
Another fun part: MLQ3 reprimanded him for jumping on the issue and those role model people he mentioned who were cleaning the Philippine Blogosphere disowned his statement. In other words, his poor social climbing technigue backfired and no one defended him. Not one guy scratched his back.

The blogosphere, or the internet for that matter, is so vast and so complex one cannot impose his ideals and beliefs to others. Are there ethics in blogging? Depends on what your beliefs are. But common sense dictates that being ethical doesn’t have to be following specific rules, but rather, just follow the Golden Rule… Don’t do unto others what you don’t want others do unto you.”
Am I an ethical blogger? I can’t tell if other people will consider me one, but one thing for sure, in my own little ways, I am trying to be an ethical blogger.
So does it give me an authority to accuse other people of being un-ethical? Hell not…

You can also count of me. We have the same view with regards to our society especially to the system of our government. Hehehe

B, Reynz and the rest of my fellow bloggers here,
Count me in for equality, friendship and freedom of speech in the blogosphere. As for the “one who lectures’ ethical blogging” – let me quote this to you “One should examine oneself for a very long time before thinking of condemning others.”
Cheers,

People can be passionate about their ideals, but they become fools when they cannot control their emotions.
I have seen these kind of people. They are the greatest hypocrites. They call themselves the civil society, the guardians, the savior of the poor.
But they are rotten as a filthy garbage. Just go on what you’re doing – and don’t get swayed by people who have nothing to offer but pulling down others to where they’re standing.
I thought Filipinos are all good people – but by the looks of it, humanity is all the same.

i read the post of that blogger referred to in the entries of the links you placed in this post. i think he’s only seen one side of the blogosphere. had i not seen the other side, i might agree to what he wrote. But as you said bro, each to his own. If he thinks he is of the elite, and can police the blogosphere, so be it. Good luck to him.

Agree. There’s nothing wrong with telling people what you think. But inviting people to rally behind you for an idea that you’re not sure would benefit everyone – I think that’s a little bit careless.

When you discriminate bloggers who earn from their blogs.

When you think you and your kind are superior,
–ito bagay din ito sa isang blogger na nabsa ko sa isang mga post nya. grabe naman kung makapagsabi ng ganun. nakakalungkot na parang xa na lang ang magaling at walang kwenta ang iba. piling sikat di naman,.
