Brother Mike Velarde is considered to be one of the serious contenders in the 2010 Philippine Presidential Election, and is ‘rumored’ to get Erap, the former Philippine President Joseph Estrada as his Vice-Presidential running mate.
Velarde, an Evangelist and a businessman who is into Real Estate Development and other business ventures leads the Catholic group El Shaddai which claims to have millions of members. His popularity as a “theologian” has earned him power and influence - economically and politically.
Do you think a Velarde-Estrada tandem appeals to voters? Will you vote for them? Feel free to post your thoughts.

if villanueva run in the election, I don’t there’s nothing wrong in velarde running this time. although, I may not necessarily vote for him.
but the idea of erap as vice-president after he has served the country as president is totally insane. I’m definitely not an erap supporter, but such an act is an insult to our already stupid election system.

they spend 70 million atleast sa pagkakampanya, tapos ang sweldo nila a month is 150 thousand or more lang, diba lugi??? ano sa tingin mo bakit pinag aagawan ang pwesto ng pagka presidente???
Maybe its time for us na mag change sa system ng politika. Kawawa ang susunod na henerasyon if it is getting worst ang gobyerno natin…
I suggest Mayor Rodrigo Duterte for President hehehe… kaso lang eh, ayaw nya ng sakit sa ulo. hehehe… hindi kaya ng power ng mefenamic acid.

I dunno, but i feel that the erap magic is still there, it’s alive and kicking.. Should it be allowed, I think erap will run again for president and on my opinion he’s winnable.. am I an erap supporter? not really.. but he’s appeal remains strong.. Lacson is a good option so as bayani fernando.. but i don’t think they have the winning power.. But of course, the mmda chairman is truly a good choice..

@Joliber - you are definitely right that joseph estrada’s magic and charm is still there. he wouldn’t be a bankable moviestar without his charisma in the first place and the pinoy masses really think that he is the closest to ramon magsaysay…i can definitely see this here in our land whether you like it or not.
@bloggista - mike-erap tandem is surely a good team-up but personally it would be a shame for a former president to be demoted to a VP again even if his presidency brought him to jail. hmmm, thoughts to ponder… but in anyway, this team-up may sizzle up the 2010 presidential elections…lets see…lets see…

LOL - as I’ve said before Metz, I will be a dictator. All public transport will be owned by the government. I will take back petron. I will abolish pork barrel. All purchases and project contracts shall use an online purchasing/bidding system transparent to all. I will fire many people in LTO, I will increase govt salaries, incl. police to Php35,000.00 starting.
Smoke belching vehicles will not be allowed registration - strict implementation so that there’s no need to hire many Anti-smoke belching personnel you see in major highways and expressways.
I will automate traffic lights - will hang traffic police and enforcers who will play with the traffic lights. LOL.

Kung matuloy man itong planong toh about sa tandem nila for 2010, I hope the Filipino people will think na it will be such a foolishness to re-elect someone who has been proven to be corrupt.
Ako na lang iboto niyo kapag nasa tamang edad na ako. Pangarap ko maging pangulo ng Pilipinas! ^__^

Hmmm you may have a point there though it is a bit of a risk sometimes since most of the people would be scared that this would end the seemingly separation of state and church

Ayos din si Bro. Mike bro, it’s common knowledge naman dito sa atin na most of our religious and political leaders don’t have in their vocabulary the word “self-restraint” and “limitation”. Dito, pwede artista to pulitiko, pulitiko to artista, actor to singer, boxer to singer to congressman. Do you still remember your dean in college who was branded by some of her colleagues to be a “jack of all traits master of none”? Anyway, let’s give Bro. Mike the benefit of the doubt, ang saya-saya talaga!!!!!

Personally, I don’t approve it when religious leaders start to creep into Politics. But we’ll see. Maybe there’ll a better leader that will come out soon.

Definitely it’s a no-no for me. Just because Mike Velarde has a lot of followers in his El Shaddai movement does not mean that he possess the qualities of a good leader. And definitely no for Estrada. A person like him with not so much education can probably become a “puppet” of those persons around him and we can probably see another EDSA Revolution if that happened.

Elections should be campaign-free. It should be a challenge for both the political leaders and the voters to know wo are they electing and how the political leaders can be publicly attached without campaigning. Ang pag-asenso ay nararamdaman.
