World Cup 2014 Finals Predictions of a Team Oranje Fan

For a Netherlands football team  fan like me, it has been a heartbreaking world cup. More heartbreaking than the 0-1 loss against Spain in World Cup 2010 finals.

The Flying Dutchmen started their World Cup 2014 campaign very strongly by exacting “revenge” and trashing defending champ Spain 5 goals to 1.

With their best players Sneijder, Van Persie, a promising young player  and substitute Memphis Depay, and of course, Arjen “The Diver” RobbenTeam Oranje displayed clockwork precision and emerged at top spot on Group B.

However, their weakness started to draw attention going into the quarterfinals. They’re no longer in top form, and barely grabbed a semifinal slot via penalty kicks (4-3) against “underdogs” Costa Rica.

My favorite booters then looked so tired, and so old, and beaten by Lionel Messi‘s Argentina team in penalties (2-4).

There were a few bad decisions by the coaching staff, oh well, I should stop here, and share my World Cup 2014 finals prediction.

For 3rd place match between Brazil and my favorite team Netherlands [#BRAvsNED] – I pick the South Americans to win. They’re more motivated, they have an amazing crowd, and cannot afford another humiliating defeat.

For World Cup 2014 Championship match between Germany and Argentina [#GERvsARG] – both are title hungry, but I pick the strong and solid Die Mannschaft by a very slight margin.

So there – what’s yours?

I thought it was going to be NED vs Germany in the finals. Yep, I root for them because of Robben and that dude Van Persie. Too bad, their campaign fell short again.

I like the little man Messie and company with their uninhibited, heart-on-their-sleeves brand of play.

I wonder what happened to the prescient Octopus which became famous in the last World Cup. Naulam na kaya siya? Hahaha.
