Apple to start selling iPhone 3G on July 11

Finally, Apple will release to the market (mostly in the United States) the much anticipated iPhone 3G on Friday, 11-July, 2008 (Saturday in Manila).
Personally, I have been anticipating for this new gadget from iPhone. It has all the features of a 3G mobile phone that I need – especially that I am mobile most of the time, blogging and tracking my Busby SEO Challenge entry (LOL) would be easier with this phone. I wonder when will this be made available to consumers in the Philippines. There was some buzz that Smart Communications will offer this phone as part of their executive mobile phone plans. But if this is made available to the general consumer on “open line” – meaning you can use it with any mobile phone operator in the Philippines, I am considering in buying one.
So what do you need to prepare if you wanna get this cool phone and use its features?

Contacts & Calendars
iPhone syncs contacts and calendars from iCal, Entourage, and Address Book on the Mac, or Outlook and Outlook Express on a PC. It also syncs contacts from Yahoo! Address Book and Google Contacts on the web.

iPhone works with the most popular email systems, including Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, AOL, and MobileMe. And iTunes syncs settings from email accounts stored on Mail on a Mac or Outlook on a PC.

iPhone uses iTunes to sync photos from iPhoto on a Mac, or Adobe Photoshop Elements, Adobe Photoshop Album, or any picture folder on a PC.

If you don’t have the latest version of iTunes, download it now and start a music and video library you can sync to your iPhone.

If you don’t have an iTunes Store account, set one up now by downloading iTunes, selecting the iTunes Store, and clicking the Sign In button in the upper-right corner.

Where to buy the new Apple iPhone 3G?
In the United States, Apple iPhone 3G, according to Apple website, will only be available in Apple Retail Stores and AT&T stores. Price starts at USD199.00, wow! That’s only about 9,000.00 in the Philippines.
How much will it cost in the Philippines?
There is no definite amount yet, but probably around Php10,000.00 to Php12,000.00 for the 8GB and about Php20,000.00 for the 16GB. These are all my estimates, if you think you know what would be the price, feel free to leave your comment.

The new IPhone 3G is something people are eagerly waiting for. I personally will purchase one in a few days once it will be available on our market.

the big question is “how much?”
some people do have multiple sims so the phone being open line is not really a big question.
in the US, Apple locked this delicious thing with AT&T at a cheap price alright as what you’ve indicated. but i’ve heard $18 would be charged for the upgrade fee. IF you are “eligible”, but hell i dunno what that means. lol. but if you’re not, darn, a whopping $399 upgrade fee for the 8gb iphone 3g. by the way, this is for consumers who plan to have a two-year contract with AT&T. if you plan to buy this one with no contract, then go go go! it’s “only” $599 for 8gb and $699 16gb version. still delicious huh? :p
regarding to which telecom company, have heard but not confirmed that it would be released through Globe with Singtel as service provider by later part of 3rd quarter of this year. But no rates yet. Correct me anyone if I’m wrong. if this will be locked with Smart though then that would an enough reason for me not to buy this. lol. and i guess everyone would expect this to be on a postpaid basis. and like you said – executive.
well, no need to complain with it being pricey because c’mon, aren’t the target consumers here are those who can afford it?
One question: Will the features (esp here in Pinas) offer preeminent substantial benefits that could justify such price?

Hi, I just got an info from a friend regarding the Iphone 3G. The $199 is locked with at&t so the price we got for the 16GB is around 32k and the 8GB is 20kPlus

iPhone 3G is simply the best phone that i have owned. It is very stylish and its nice features. I also own an N97 but i like the iphone.
My ipod 1G is our important iPod, Pda and much more, not to mention has happen to be from the time I discovered it. It continues to work on the latest iPod system software program, and any app I might need it to operate. I’m working with it to post this remark right this moment.
