Whoah, Bloggista.com is kinda spiritual today. Well, almost. I am sure most of us are familiar with this popular poem ‘Footprints In The Sand‘. Widely adapted by many Christians to uplift people in times of needs and despair.
Many people though are not aware who authored this poem. Some claimed it was Mary Stevenson, while Wikipedia said its either her, or Ella H. Scharring-Hausen, Burrell Webb, Carolyn Joyce Carty or Margaret Fishback Powers. But whoever wrote it, certainly it was an awesome piece of literature that captivated lots of people around the world. There was a popular song adaptation, and currently, another adaptation by Leona Lewis which is featured at the latter part of this post.
During this Easter Sunday, I felt Filipinos deserve some feeling of hope and a comforting message after all the circus that Philippine politicians staged lately. But just to make it a little ‘appropriate’ for Filipinos, I made some ‘fitting arrangements’ myself. Every Pinoy and Pinay should very well relate to this one.
Here it goes…
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with a Politician.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the Politician.When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.This really bothered him and he
questioned the Politician about it:“Honorable, you said that once I decided to vote for
you, you’d walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me.”The Politician replied:
“My friend, my precious constituent,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I took your fortune for a vacation.”

Poor me. By the way, time for a much serious post, here’s the video from Leona Lewis’ song “Footprints In the Sand” as inspired by the same Poem that inspired the above ‘twisted’ version. And Simon Cowell, yeah the American Idol ‘most loved’ judge co-produced this music for a charity campaign by Sport Relief.

Haha. Fortunately, not all Politicians are corrupt Bendz. There are a few good men out there. But there’s this common beginning – most of them, if not all, started as honest men.
You’re right, not everyone is corrupt at least until the system gets them and they’ve had tasted what power is. LOL!

I remember my grandma having a painting on her wall depicting part of that poem when I was growing up, I can hardly even remember what her first house looked like but for some reason I remember that picture, hmm.

Ok you got my attention with this one. Since President Barack Obama is one of my favorite people I will let you get away with rewriting my copyrighted text for this blog post. I still own the poem regardless of it’s edition, because you used more than 20% of it. Maybe that will become tax deductible.
