Its Good Business for UAAP with Blue Eagles and Green Archers
Post Update, 25-Sep-2008: Check out the UAAP 71 Championship Finals Game 2 updates at Bloggista.org
Guaranteed! Over the years, since both teams played in NCAA until they both moved to UAAP in the 80′s, the Ateneo Blue Eagles and the La Salle Green Archers have developed a rivalry that’s sure to fill all the seats at the Araneta Coliseum. The 2008 UAAP Season 71 Championship Finals will surely draw lots of crowds, and will definitely paint the town green and blue – when La Salle and Ateneo square off for the UAAP Season 71 Championship Title on Sunday, 21-Sept-2008.
These rivalries in Philippine collegiate Men’s basketball probably started to become notable with the rivalry of the Blue Eagles and the San Beda Red Lions eons ago. San Beda Red Lions currently dominates the NCAA League which is also holding their 2008 NCAA Final Four Games on Monday, 15-Sep-2008. Then there was a fierce rivalry between Ateneo and UP Maroons, La Salle and FEU Tamaraws and UST Growling Tigers in UAAP and La Salle vs. Letran Knights in early NCAA days.
One good thing about these two arch-rivals in UAAP, the League will surely benefit from ticket sales. I remembered in early 2000 when both teams were in the Championship Finals, it was almost impossible to get tickets to the game. It was good business, also for the “scalpers” who sold tickets to as much as Php2,000.00 to Php5,000 a game.

Though these two teams kicked the butt of our team(a lost Tiger here), I voted ADMU to win the championship this year.

@Metz, hehe, there is in fact an interesting comment “war” on my other blog at http://www.bloggista.org regarding this UAAP Finals.
@Dyimz, many have voted for Ateneo to win this time, but sakit nila magpatalo sa Finals with La Salle even if they came in strong during the elimination rounds.
UP lang ang team ko. haha.
