Lately there are quite a number of banner advertising marketplaces that are available for bloggers to monetize their blogs. One of them is ViralBlogAds which I stumbled upon Michael Aulia’s Technology and Reviews blog.

If you have empty 125×125 banner ad slots, you can monetize them while waiting for some Private Advertisers to purchase banner ad slots on your site. You earn money on every click made by your visitors on each Banner Ad. You can leave at least one Banner Ad Slot to let potential advertisers know that you are accepting Ads on your site.

The VBA (ViralBlogAds) short javascript code does all the tricks of displaying the Banner Ads on your site. You don’t have to create your own codes just to display the ads. Just select how many Ad Slots you wish to create (say, 6 slots) and paste the code to where you want the Banner Ads to appear - its that simple. I was able to setup mine, in just 5 minutes - that includes Registration process, confirming email and setting up the codes.

Currently, two banner ads are supported: 125×125 and 468×60, in GIF, JPEG and PNG format. Payout are paid via PayPal. You can request a payout when your earnings reach USD25.00.

REFERRAL COMMISION - ViralBlogAds is giving each approved Publisher who refers another Publishers 15% for life of all referral earnings. It’s not just a one-time referral payment. I have seen in several forums people were asking if it is compliant with Google Adsense TOS to deliver adsense ads using third-party ad servers, like Open Ads. While there were lots of attempts to answer the question, more publishers chose not to do it instead to avoid getting banned from the Google program.

Why ad servers seemed to be very important? Because it simplify management of ads from various advertisers. I am using an ad server (testing it) on my various sites to deliver banner and text ads from various advertisers, affiliate programs and referral products. My sidebar is even using an ad server to rotate the 125×125 banners of my blog friends (by the way, there are still available slots, so you may contact me if you are interested for a free banner exchange program).

By using an ad server, you can configure which advertiser you want to display their ads, setting price for advertising by either Cost per mille (CPM) or Cost per click (CPC). You can set how many times an ad may be displayed - in an hour, in a day or total cumulative page views, or you can limit the effective number of ad clicks before it expires. This way, you have full control of your advertising inventory and pricing, thus allowing you to maximize your profits on your websites.

Introducing the Google Ad Manager. It exactly does everything an ad server is capable of, but with more advantageous features, especially for Google Adsense Publishers. You can set to display Google Adsense ads on it, while there are no orders from Advertisers yet. Ever since I started blogging (3rd week of November, 2007), I always wanted to have my own domain and hosting - a dream that came a reality a month after. It was in December that I got my own site ( http://on-myweb.com ) through the small earnings that I generated during that period - plus a little extra cash.
