Footprints in the Sand

Whoah, Bloggista.com is kinda spiritual today. Well, almost. I am sure most of us are familiar with this popular poem ‘Footprints In The Sand‘. Widely adapted by many Christians to uplift people in times of needs and despair.

Footprints in the SandMany people though are not aware who authored this poem. Some claimed it was Mary Stevenson, while Wikipedia said its either her, or Ella H. Scharring-Hausen, Burrell Webb, Carolyn Joyce Carty or Margaret Fishback Powers. But whoever wrote it, certainly it was an awesome piece of literature that captivated lots of people around the world. There was a popular song adaptation, and currently, another adaptation by Leona Lewis which is featured at the latter part of this post.

During this Easter Sunday, I felt Filipinos deserve some feeling of hope and a comforting message after all the circus that Philippine politicians staged lately. But just to make it a little ‘appropriate’ for Filipinos, I made some ‘fitting arrangements’ myself. Every Pinoy and Pinay should very well relate to this one.

Here it goes…

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with a Politician.

Playing perfectly cool on a Perfect World

Edit: Win Perfect World Gold! Check this post for details!Perfect World Beast

I am not going to give a lengthy review (or am I?) on this very addicting MMORPG game. I began playing Perfect World in September of last year (2007) and played 20 hours a day until I discovered another addicting internet activity - blogging. Instead, I will just give a brief introduction about this game, just in case some of you haven’t heard of it yet. At the last section of this post, you can check out some screen shots and a Perfect World video from Levelup.

PerfectWorldPerfect World is a full-feature 3D online game that is based on rich Chinese mythology and set in the world of Pangu, with entire generations of gods that paved the way for the creation of great civilizations. Anchored on groundbreaking creative elements and features that catapult it into the next level of 3D online gaming, Perfect World bestows players with the power to create their own legend and, ultimately, their own Perfect World. This MMORPG game is introduced in the Philippines last year by Levelup Games, a leading online games publisher in the country, who brought in Ragnarok, OZWorld, RF Online, FreeStyle and many other great online games.

The Pentium-5 hubbub

No, its not about Intel’s new processor chip release. I usually use Pentium-5 performance in my Consulting job - everytime I speak to my clients about speed, reliable, real-time data processing.

But Pentium-5, in my Consulting jargon, is exactly the opposite of what a system with a Pentium-5 processor in it - if ever Intel is going to produce one someday, (maybe in 2010?). It is an upgrade of Pentium-Poor. It’s all about sluggishness, slow, shamefully slow performance, outrageously slow speed - in other words, just !@$#%2%$!!!#$@#$ SLOW!

Yeah, this site has been running very slowly several days now, extremely Pentium-5 performance! Yeah, that is, you click on my site, and it takes 5 minutes before it shows up! What a bummer. Well, Bendz, in his usual playful self - thanks God he’s back to his playful self, did made a very inspiring comment, yeah, I mean it, very inspiring as I am now seriously considering changing to a better hosting service.

My Web Hosting, sent me an email:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Support.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.

I have checked your Web sites http://aaaaa, http://bbbbbb and http://bloggista.com and noticed that it is loading slowly. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Currently, we are in a process of upgrading the MySQL servers to higher version. Hence, the customers are experiencing slowness while accessing the database. We do not have the exact time frame for resolution but we are expecting this to be done soon.

If you have any further questions, you can e-mail us seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Sincerely,

Customer Support

Too bad. I don’t know when they will gonna complete all these upgrades. I have noticed the sluggish performance several times over a 2-month period while they’re doing all those system upgrades. And I think it’s now time to seriously consider transferring to a better hosting service. I mean business, and I mean reliable, fast and simply better hosting.

Hey guys, if you have some suggestions on better web hosting provider, please leave your comments (with some discount coupons, even better, hehe).

Though I have to be assured of these two things:

  • No downtime when transferring to the new web hosting provider
  • Easy transfer of my blog and sites and databases ( I am not a techie, so this one’s kinda tough for me).

Politics of Hope, Political Will

For once, we ask our political leaders to think something productive for our country. With all these investigations left and right, from the Senate to Congress, our leaders became experts in investigations and the practice of law in front of national televisions, whose viewing statistics rivaled, if not, outnumbered the most popular soap shows on primetime tv.

Our political leaders are quick in conducting all these hearings in aid of legislation, but have they really took some real efforts in making sure all these grafts and scams can be avoided, if not eliminated in the future? So much has been done on ‘reactive, firefighting’ politics of hate, but no true programs were done to implement systems and procedures to prevent re-occurrence of such corrupt practices.

As outlined in my rebellious blog at blogrebel, this country needs real, pro-active solutions to rid the bureaucracy of anomalous deals and contracts. We need a true, globally accepted ‘Procurement’ system powered by Information technology. Smaller companies spend millions of dollars to automate and upgrade their Purchasing departments, to benefit from what Information Technology can give - automate, track, and streamline procurement processes to help in reducing costs, eliminate incidence of fraud and maximizing the investments made in these purchases. The government, which is a hundred times bigger than these corporations, need this even more.

A true IT-enabled procurement system (Oracle, SAP, etc.) not only automates Read the rest of this article »

Pinay Scandal and the SEO Experiment

I have read the post over at Marghil’s blog regarding the top keyword that placed most Pinoy bloggers on top of Google’s list. And not surprisingly, its all about pornography. The keyword, Pinay Scandal topped the list on that category, and many blogs were listed higher in Google because of this. And what are those most blogs all about? Gladly, there is no actual Pinay Scandal photo, or any Pinay Scandal video on them. Its actually becoming a noble cause for most Pinoy bloggers to get rid of the search engines like Yahoo! and Google from the insulting and degrading pornographic contents and videos that directly associates the supposedly gentler and noble meaning of the word Pinay, or short term for Filipino women, from the word Filipina.
