Personal Blog Branding Using Social Media

This is the first of three-article series about blogging and branding through social media engagement.

Why branding is so important?

A brand that is clearly identifiable is what every business needs. Some great examples are Apple, Samsung, Mercedes Benz, and even Dunkin Donuts. These brands catch almost everyone’s attention with a mere glimpse of their logos.

Beware of these Facebook scams: fake contests, like farming and clickbait headlines

“Curiosity is the lust of the mind” – (Thomas Hobbes).

Curiosity, coupled with ignorance is what makes online scammers very successful. Social media onboards everyone online, making social engagements virtually possible. And so as hoaxes and scams too.

… and I’m still blogging.

In January 2008, I purchased this blog by “accident” – someone told me I can make money online and I need to purchase a webhosting with free domain name through his link so I can get a discount.

I didn’t know it was an affiliate link, I thought I was scammed, in a legit way, or vice versa, but man, I was so glad I got scammed that way.

So I blogged, and started my journey to that promise of “making money online”, to the point that I quit my freelance consulting gigs for almost 2 years.

Now, the money was gone, but that experience led me to learn new stuff like making your posts appear in Google’s top 10 search results, got paid in reviewing gadgets, started an online company hosting blogs and websites, established a startup “cloud” company, among other things, and most of all, I still got this beautiful domain name – bloggista.com.

I was a struggling blogger then, and still a struggling blogger now as I am not good at writing, my grammar is worse than yours, and I’m just too busy to spare some precious time blogging.

But it’s in my blood, so, my blogging journey continues.

Adelante!
